Woven - Gina Stone
Gina Stone's album 'Woven' has 13 beautiful tracks from the eerie Haunted to the more electro influenced It's Just An Illusion to the grinding groove of Pulse and the ethereal Moonchild.
With her own brand of darkwave/electro/synth pop, Gina has had various tracks played on local BBC Introducing shows including Nottingham and Lincolnshire. And also airplay on local internet radio stations such as Nightbreed Radio and Sherwood Radio. You can catch Gina singing locally around Newark, Nottingham and Lincolnshire. Woven is available through eBay or for more information on obtaining the CD and gig dates please visit Gina's myspace page or find her on facebook.
Here are some comments from BBC DJs and local magazines:
I think Gina Stone defines the word sultry. It's an odd word to use; sultry. There is something about it, I don't know what it is. There's lots of space in her music, a real load of space. You kind of feel like you're being sightly immersed and I like that!
BBC Wiltshire Introducing, Marie Lennon and Will Walder
She's been picked up by other BBC Introducing shows across the country and as the word spreads, her distinctively, spaced-out, sultry sound is helping Gina Stone become better-known all over the place!
BBC Wiltshire Introducing, Marie Lennon
Now this has really impressive vocals. It's got a Massive Attack style of production and that is something I really love. Now Marie Lennon, this could be title of the week do you think? I think so! It's called 'I Cry You Lie'
BBC Wiltshire Introducing, Will Walder and Marie Lennon
Pulse - has a Goldfrapp feel, and we love Goldfrapp!
BBC Lincolnshire Introducing, James Wickham
Pulse - That's a really great track!
BBC Nottingham – The Beat, Dean Jackson
Come into my parlour, said the spider to the fly. Woven is that spider, pulling tighter on the web you’ll find yourself caught up in. Opening track Pulse is the bait laid out to catch your attention. Part Lalo Schifrin brassy soundtrack, part Portishead on the pull.

I reviewed Gina Stone’s album Woven last year for LeftLion and it’s a record I love. Live, it’s great to see that Gina never puts a foot wrong when performing its songs, with pitch-perfect vocals and passionate delivery - Singers who can deliver this well are few and far between.
