How does it work?
Indian Head Massage is a relaxing treatment which, as the name suggests, concentrates on massaging the head.
Head and scalp massage can be used alongside simple meditative techniques to provide a simple and effective way to relax.
The lovely thing about this treatment is that it can be done anywhere - only requiring a chair - making it an ideal treatment for the corporate environment.
Although oils can be used on the scalp, most people prefer not to have them as it leaves the hair very oily, which may be inconvenient it they are returning to work or going out.
However, if you would like the aromatic oils, most therapists are happy to accommodate this.
Experiences
The treatment involves massage, shiatsu and acupressure techniques on upper back, shoulders, arms/hands, neck, scalp and face.
Massage involves alternate firm and gentle strokes.
This relaxes tense areas but, at the same time, helps to rebalance the energy, clearing any areas of negativity.
You remain fully clothed whilst the treatment is performed and just take advantage of a little "time to yourself".
Although it looks uncomfortable, it isn't in the least. Many people choose this therapy when they wish to relax and unwind.
Side effects
There are no side effects with Indian Head massage.
Duration and number of sessions
A session lasts approximately 20-30 minutes.
If used to treat a condition, the number of sessions will vary depending on the severity of the condition and the length of time it has been a problem.
Many people however, have this therapy for relaxation and continue to do so after any initial problems have cleared.
Safety issues
- Safe for every age group.
- Safe for every level of health.
- You should make the therapist aware of any existing medical condition.
