Stand prices for 2008 »
We invite you to join our team of exhibitors at any of our forthcoming Mind, Body and Spirit events.
For further details of the location of each event, go to our event venues page where we have just added our 2008 schedule.
Our events are different from many others, in that we heavily promote alternative health and complementary therapy, not just the psychic side of things. We aim to have a good balance between the two.
As a voluntary organisation, the BSSK Events does not look to profit from the stand holder's fees, and so after payment for the venue and associated costs, all fees (and usually more besides) are invested into promoting the event. This means that advertising is extensive and wide ranging.
What are the BSSK's objectives for these events?
- To promote knowledge and awareness generally that spirit is a vital part of the tripartite nature of human existence.
- To raise the profile of alternative and complementary therapies; to provide information about the spiritual nature of life; to give opportunity for those that seek it, to receive guidance from spirit; to give the opportunity to purchase products not easily found elsewhere; to promote health, well-being and spiritual growth.
- To give the opportunity for those who have taken the uncertain leap away from a conventional livelihood and become therapists, readers and traders in this field, to promote their businesses through our events, not only on the days themselves, but in the longer term also.
- To raise funds to establish a permanent school and residential facilities for courses and workshops.
What is BSSK's ethos?
- To aim to be known for the quality of our exhibitors and their high standards of professionalism in their particular area.
- To maintain a good balance of exhibitors, with no over-representation in any one particular area.
- All stand fees, after venue hire and associated costs will be invested in promotion of the event. This means our advertising is extensive and wide-ranging.
- To use quality locations, chosen with good parking if possible, with good facilities for talks and demonstrations and with disabled access and facilities.
- To try and choose venues not used by another promoter so as to distinguish our event and to try not to clash on date with any local MBS event or any other event favoured by our exhibitors.
- To add to our calendar places that have not had major MBS events to date, thereby generating interest in towns as well as major cities and reaching new audiences.
- To encourage visitor feedback.
- To strive to maintain a friendly atmosphere and good energies within every event.
New Chatsworth Fairs events
We are delighted to announce that we have joined with the popular Chatsworth Fairs and the first event will be on 24th and 25th May at the Barnsley Metrodome.
If you wish to book this event, please use the separate booking form or contact us as soon as possible as places will be snapped up quickly.
Important information for NEW exhibitors
Prior to each event booked, you will receive an exhibitor pack. This is sent by e-mail where possible for reasons of conservation, but if you do not have access to e-mail or the web, we do have alternative arrangements. Please be sure to let us know which will be suitable for you. As some systems treat attachments from a business e-mail as junk mail, please check your junk mail folder regularly.
- PROCEDURE FOR THOSE WITH E-MAIL AND WEB ACCESS
- Maps and B&B lists for each venue can be found in the venues section of this website. This means you can access them anytime you want, so those who like to book B&B early can do so. They can also be e-mailed or posted on specific request.
- When you send in your 2008 booking form, there will be a space to clearly write your current e-mail address.
- You will receive a confirmation e-mail for your bookings.
- Three to four weeks before the show date, a letter giving 'show specific' information, invoice and talk notification if applicable will be mailed to you by e-mail.
- Approx four or five weeks before the show date, a letter giving set up and other show information, invoice and talk notification if applicable will be mailed to you by e-mail.
- IF YOU CHANGE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS DURING THE YEAR, PLEASE REMEMBER TO TELL US!
- PROCEDURE FOR THOSE WITHOUT INTERNET AND WEB ACCESS
- Once the booking form is received, you will receive a booking confirmation letter. If you require maps and B&B list, please request these at the time of the show.
- As each show approaches, you will receive a letter with all the setting up and other show information, invoice and talks notification if applicable.
Rolling Deposit Scheme
In order to assist your cash flow, if you book more than one show with us we operate a rolling deposit scheme. This enables you to book early and so not miss out on the popular shows which fill up very quickly. It also assists us by minimising paperwork if you book all your shows early.
How the Scheme works:
- When you complete your booking form, the amount of the deposit is listed under the price for each type of stand. For instance, if you are booking a single retail stand, you will note the deposit is listed at £80.
- When you submit your booking form, submit ONE payment for the amount of the deposit, so in the case of the single retail stand, book as many shows as you wish and send one cheque or card authority for only £80.
- As the first show approaches, you will be invoiced for the FULL amount of the stand and this is the amount to pay, or the amount that will be debited to your card if you have given this authority.
- The deposit will then become the deposit for the next show booked.
- When the second show arrives, this is again paid in full and the deposit then rolls over to the next show and so on throughout the year.
- On the last show booked for the year, you can request your deposit be set against that show, or it can roll over towards the next years deposit.
I hope this explains the scheme, but if you have any queries, please do contact us.
Reader feedback scheme
All reader bookings will be taken on the understanding that the reader participate in the READER FEEDBACK SCHEME.
One scheme lapel badge will be issued to each reader on receipt of their booking form and should be retained for the whole year. If the badge is lost or misplaced, new ones can be purchased for £1.
The scheme works as follows:
- All readers will be given a badge stating that they participate in the feedback scheme.
- The badge MUST be worn at every show.
- A notice about the scheme will be given to every entrant to the show and it will also appear in the show guide, space permitting. Details of it will also appear on the website.
- A supply of Feedback Forms will be provided at each show and one must be given to each client at the end of the reading.
- The reader will explain to the client they are not obliged to complete the card, but if they wish to do so, they should post it in the box at the show reception point.
- Readers should not take the card from the client or attempt to fill it in for them, other than to put their name on it if they wish, to aid the client in getting it right. This relieves the client of any embarrassment or pressure to say 'nice' things.
We do realise it is not possible to please all of the people all of the time and you should not worry that these cards will be used to instigate a 'witch hunt'. The aim is to monitor the quality of our readers and maybe to help with suggestions if a specific point keeps coming up. We are well aware that no matter what a reader does, there will always be the client that is not satisfied and that some will try reader after reader till they find the one that tells then what they want to hear rather than what they should hear.
We are sure you will agree that a bad word always travels much quicker than a good one. It is our experience that if someone is unhappy with their reading, they are not likely to tell the reader, or even ourselves, but to go and tell all their friends and family. We only usually hear complaints or dissatisfaction when another reader does a 'clean up' and encourages the client to tell us, but you can bet your life all their immediate circle will hear about it!
We see this as a positive step to help assess the suitability of new readers booking shows and to protect the reputation of all our readers and hope you will too. The feedback will be completely confidential to BSSK and will not be publicised generally. We will return cards to you at subsequent shows, so that you may also monitor your feedback.
Electrical Equipment
Many of the venues we use, particularly local authority owned ones now ask for all portable equipment brought onto the premises to be PAT tested. Please note that during 2007, any electrical equipment that does not carry a Pat (portable appliance testing) tested sticker may be refused at some venues. This is for prevention of fire which may be caused by faulty equipment.
This has implication for lights, extension cables, portable music devices and tape recorders at the very least.
Pat testing is an important part of any health & safety policy. The Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances.
The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment. This in effect requires the implementation of a systematic and regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing.
A quick glance in the Yellow Pages or a browse for Pat testing on the web will bring up the name of someone local to you who can perform the necessary tests on your equipment, which will then have a sticker fitted showing a date when it needs to be done again.
If you have any queries about this, please do contact us and we will do our best to help.
Stand Prices for 2008
We now have standardised stand prices for all events.
Please note:
- A table is usually a 6' x 2' 6" trestle, but this may vary at some shows.
- We do not provide a shell system, preferring instead, the friendly atmosphere created by an open show.
- Where any stand is a mix or trading, reading and therapy, the higher rate will apply. Only one reader is permitted per reader stand, unless by prior agreement.
- Please state any special requirements clearly on the booking form. Please advise if you have back boards or display banners/signs.
- Your stand includes TWO chairs, THREE for Readers. If you require more, please indicate the EXTRA number on the booking form. At shows where these are hired in, a charge of £2 per chair may apply and extras may not be available unless previously requested.
- Exhibitors are required to supply their own stand cover or cloths, which should be long enough to reach the ground, so as to maintain uniformity and hide unsightly boxes and bags.
- Exhibitors are required to supply their own therapy couch or therapy chair.
- Extra racks and rails must be declared. Paste or other tables to widen stands are not allowed - an extra table for this purpose may be booked on the booking form.
- Bookings are accepted on the basis of the description of products and services entered on the booking form only, unless by the subsequent written agreement of B.S.S.K , who reserves the right to ask you to remove from display, any item not previously declared on the booking form.
- The giving of readings on a retail or therapy stand is only permitted by prior agreement, as the number of readers is carefully controlled. The appropriate double stand reader/retailer must be booked.
- Subletting or sharing of stand space is only permitted with the prior agreement of B.S.S.K.
