Our second visit to Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury!
85 stands!A new show in 2012 was our event at Stoke Mandevillle Stadium, The National Centre for Disability Sport and the Birthplace of the Paralympic Games.
As a rule, we try hard not to use sports halls for our shows. Undoubtedly they provide the necessary space and parking and are ground floor with disabled access, but it can be hard to create the right ambience in them. Additionally the staff are sports minded of course, and often have little appreciation of what we are all about.
A £10m refurbishment programme has transformed the original sports centre into a state-of-the-art leisure complex to enable WheelPower - British Wheelchair Sport to provide a venue of the highest quality for all users, including those not wanting the sporting facilities.
Practicalities aside, there feels to be something 'right' about supporting a centre that does so much for the disabled.
The venue already plays host to some large exhibitions so the cafe and staff are well versed in handling large numbers of people, so refreshments throughout the day will be available onsite as they are at all BSSK events.
Overflow parking is to be arranged with a local school and the hospital itself so there will be ample parking available in and around the venue.
The show has all the usual BSSK attractions - Zone of Tranquillity, a relaxing space to sit and reflect, the free Children's Angel Feather Hunt with a prize for every child, and the free prize draw for every paying adult. This is drawn at 4pm on the Sunday of the show - don't worry if you are not on site, we ring and notify the winner and winners are listed on the website after the show.
Hope you can join us again at the second Stoke Mandeville show!
