The Workshop

Waken Tankan Nici Un (May the Great Spirit walk with you)

Over tens of thousands of years, our ancient ancestors all over the world discovered how to maximize human abilities of mind and spirit for healing and problem-solving. The remarkable system of methods they developed is today known as "shamanism," a term that comes from a Siberian tribal word for its practitioners: "shaman" and is one of the oldest tribal healing traditions, but still found in many cultures around the world today.

Shamans are a type of medicine man or woman especially distinguished by the ability, in an altered state of consciousness, to use forms of journeying to spirit worlds, along with prayer and ceremony to connect with the spirit animals or totems of the client. It is through this guidance the practitioner helps their client find a state of balance and well-being.

This workshop will not make you a Shaman overnight, but it will give a fascinating insight into the world of the Shaman, allow you to take your first steps into the mysteries and gain a better understanding of the peoples and cultures that have given us this amazing tradition.

What does the workshop include?

  • Worldwide History of Shamanism
  • Varying Traditions of Shamanism
  • Uses and Place in Society Today
  • Journeying
  • Meeting of Guides
  • The use of the Drum to Facilitate Journeying

Note: Those that have attended the Sacred Way of the Drum workshop, should bring along their drum for use in this workshop.
